PP Logistiikka Oy Ltd. 08/08
A gritty and narrow country road makes its way through the woods and all of a sudden there it is – a big company called PP-Logistiikka Oy with its machinery and containers outside the building. PP-Logistiikka, earlier known as ”Pirkanmaan Puutavara” was founded in 1992. Originally it was placed in Tampere, in Tampella area. Mrs. Tarsia´s father Mr. Eero Pullinen bought the former carpenter’s forgery and made it a successful company. |

The company has been in Lempäälä from 1995. A new hall for the wood products was finished one year later. In 1998 there was again a new hall, which had more equipment than ever, e.g. 2 strong cranes with capacity of 30 tons! A tarp hall for lighter and movable objects was finished in 2005. Expansions have been made also outside in order to make more storage space.

…are the wood products, packaging and stocking. The company makes also deliveries in order to serve well and keep the clients content.
A big advantage of the company is the ability of handling weighty goods. They are able to handle goods that weight more than 60 tons.
Only certified wood is being used in PP-Logistiikka – many countries including the USA are extremely exact that the wood is of good quality.
The growing family business offers work for more than 20 people at the moment. Last year the increase of the turnover was 18% and the year before it was 26%. The competition in the wood business is tight, but the stocking business has made a nice niche for the company. The biggest competitors in stocking are basically all the harbours.

All the leaving items are professionally packed in PP-Logistiikka or in customer’s own facilities. The majority of the goods are exported to Russia and China. In the very moment of the interview there was a big amount of paper machine’s drums with destination China. Majority of the imported goods come from Brazil as well as from China.
Mrs. Tarsia jokes that it is good to be a part of an international business even though the company itself is situated in the forgotten woods of Lastunen!
Mrs. Tarsia says that the company ´s location is excellent. The highway is near and a really fast road e.g. to the southern harbours. Many important clients are also based in Tampere area. Important clients of Jyväskylä and Järvenpää are also near.
The relationship with Lempäälä municipality is good, especially the Business Development Director of Lempäälä, Mr. Markku Sipilä, has been a great help.
The location of the company permits it to enhance and enlarge its functions, because its plot of 14 hectares is only half full.
Mrs. Tarsia doesn’t have many hobbies. She tries to spend her yearly vacations with her family and likes spending time in the new family cottage. Her 8- and 10-year-old sons keep their parents busy.
It is not possible to forget the work even though on holiday: when her father, her husband (who works in the company) and she get together, it is basically impossible to avoid talking about work. But as long as the work is exciting and she likes it – it doesn’t really matter!
